Big city lights - heading to birmingham

Travelling to a Big City to a New Venue to photograph a Large Event can be daunting, but that's exactly where I was this month.

Long brief in hand and a 15 hour day ahead of me I arrived at The Eastside Rooms in Birmingham for the Craft Bakers Association business day and awards.

If I said I wasn't anxious before arriving I'd be lying, but I remind myself that I've done this a thousand times before, different venues, different briefs, different clients and as soon as I take that lens cap off for the first time, that anxiety lifts and I enter into a flow state ticking off the brief like it's a challenge sheet. President installation, AGM, competition entries, judging, exhibitors, networking, award ceremony... tick, tick, tick. Flash on, Flash off, lens change, one room to the next and back again, the time disappears and before I know it I'm photographing my last handful of shots, people dancing and celebrating at the end of the night.

Tired, but grinning like a Cheshire cat, I pack my kit away and grab a cold drink to cool off and relax before the journey home and the editing begins.
